Gregory A. Brashears, Jr., 16 of Thurmont entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. , with his family by his side. He was a sixteen year old eleventh grade student at Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland.
Born August 16, 1993 in Frederick, he was the beloved son of Gregory Brashears, Sr. and companion Andi Sheiss of Thurmont and Lisa Johnson Brashears and companion Jimmy Rippeon of Thurmont. Paternal grandparents Jesse and Nancy Brashears of Mt. Pleasant, Materanal grandparents Helen L. Johnson of Thurmont and Robert and Barbara Johnson of Walkersville, Sisters Laura Brashears of Thurmont and Maria Strite and fiancé Jason Pasaik of Woodsboro, Brother A. J. Strite of Thurmont, also a very "special" niece Alyvia Pasaik of Woodsboro. He leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and many cousins, and numerous friends including Jennifer Sonifrank and Kenny Gravely of Thurmont and a very special friend Shelby Workman of Emmitsburg. Greg also leaves behind Ham Phillips who was his mentor and special friend.
Greg was a member of "Jesus Loves Kids Youth Group" in Discovery. He worked at Winterbrook Farms in Thurmont. Greg loved the family beach vacations, fishing in the Potomac with his Mom, sister Laura and friend Jimmy. He also loved to play football, basketball, and riding his dirt bike.
Greg is at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont, where the funeral home will be open for visiting from 1-9 P.M., Tuesday, February, 16 and the family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 17 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Sam Martz officiating, Pastors Larry and Lou Holmes of "Jesus Loves Kids Youth Group " will deliver a special sermon for the youths.
Pallbearers will be Scott Edmonds, Randy Edmonds, J.B. Blentlinger, Jr., Brandon Terpko, Anthony Terpko, and Anthony Wolfe. Honorary Pallbearers will be D.J. Long and Jason Pasaik.
Interment will be in Haugh's Church Cemetery, Ladiesburg.
