Mrs. Bettie Marie Carroll, 85 of Frederick died Wednesday, February 24 at her residence. She was the wife of Joseph Paul Carroll, who died May 15, 1993.
Born October 26, 1924 in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Harry Diehl and Hazel A. Waters Baumgardner, Jr.
Mrs. Carroll was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, a Choir member for 39 years and a cantor for funerals for 58 years. She was a member of FSK Post #11 American Legion Auxiliary, the National Association of Federal Retirees, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving is a son: Michael J. Carroll of Jefferson; a granddaughter: Heather M. Hainline and husband Sean; two grandsons: Nicholas J. Carroll and Daniel C. Carroll; two great granddaughters: Mikaylah and Ava Hainline; a sister: Doris Ann Webb and husband John of Baltimore; a brother: Dorsey W. Baumgardner and wife Delores of Frederick; and a sister-in-law: Elizabeth M. Baumgardner of Sykesville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a son: Robert Daniel Carroll; and a brother: Harry D. Baumgardner III.
Mrs. Carroll is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 North Market Street, Frederick. There will be no calling or visiting at the funeral home.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 112 East Second Street, Frederick with Msgr. Richard J. Murphy as the celebrant.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Carroll to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 112 East Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
